Half & Whole Shares - How It Works

We are pleased to offer custom cut beef and pork shares in halves or wholes. Many folks love the convenience, quality, and cost savings of filling a freezer with cuts of their choosing to be consumed when and as they see fit. Since cuts offered in the share format is for personal use and not for resale, we offer these as custom cuts not subject to USDA inspection. Should you require USDA inspection, this must be communicated in advance of any order submission to make special arrangements.

Quote and Order: Using the Contact Us page on this site, send us an email letting us know of your interest, contact information and whether your interest is in beef or pork shares and the size. We’ll share a timeline and price quote, so please include a delivery address when requesting a quote. When ready to commit, you’ll submit a deposit securing your order.

Selecting Cuts: About 6 weeks before order delivery, you’ll receive instructions for navigating Smokey Ridge Meat’s website to submit your cut and wrap instructions. Once on their website, special services such as smoking or crafting jerky, sausage, or pepperoni may also be requested. Payment will be made directly to Smokey Ridge Meats for all services requested of them.

Order Delivery: Once your order is cut and wrapped to your specifications and frozen completely, it will be picked up by our freezer truck to ensure temperature control and delivered to your location at a day and time we coordinate together.

Beef Price Structure: Beef shares are currently offered on a ‘price per pound’ basis based on the hanging weight of the steer. The hanging weight is the weight of the carcass after removing the head, hide, organs, and blood, but before the carcass has been aged, cut, and packaged into the final take-home portions. The final net weight of packaged meat received in your freezer should be estimated at maybe 60-65% of the hanging weight. Note beef processing fees at Smokey Ridge Meats are published on their website, also based on hanging weight, and are in addition to McLaughlin Ranch beef share prices.

Pork Price Structure: Pork shares are currently offered on a ‘price per share’ basis. Note pork processing fees at Smokey Ridge Meats are published on their website, are based on hanging weight, and are in addition to McLaughlin Ranch beef share prices.
